Safe & Sound Protocol

Calm Your Nervous System

SSP may be especially helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, sleep difficulties, sensory sensitivity, trauma-related symptoms, or nervous system regulation.

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a music-based listening intervention designed to support nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and social connection. Using specially filtered music, SSP helps the nervous system become more receptive to cues of safety, which may support greater calm, focus, flexibility, and connection with others.

How SSP Helps

Safe & Sound Protocol leverages neuroscientist Steven Porges’ Polyvagal Theory. By listening to specially filtered music through headphones, SSP retrains your nervous system to feel more grounded and engaged. It teaches your ears to focus on important sounds, like voices, by filtering out background noise.

This  intervention is used alongside a provider or remotely; the SSP can be offered to clients who are in therapy with Liz or another provider.

“I completed the Safe and Sound Protocol with Liz Marucheau, and it has been life-changing for me. I had struggled with sleep and anxiety issues for years and could barely function. After completing the Safe and Sound Protocol, I feel like a new person. Liz was incredibly helpful in monitoring and supporting me throughout this process.”
