My approach:

I combine traditional talk therapy techniques with body-centered interventions that directly address the lingering neurological effects of your past experiences. My focus is on integration, which means I will combine traditional 'top down' approaches like talking therapies with 'bottom up' approaches like meditation, mindfulness and more. I am trained in and use the following approaches: Attachment Based Therapy, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Family-systems Theory, Play therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Parent Coaching.   All of my work includes -Psychoeducation.

Where DID I learn about a

neurobiological approach?

First let me start by saying I am a life long learner.  I completed Dr.Ruth Newton's Scaffolding the Brain: A Neurobiological Approach to Assessment and Intervention, which set me on the path of learning more about implementing neuroscience principles in my practice. I am fortunate enough to have participated in a monthly study group with Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D., a leader on parenting who focuses on the topic of Whole-Brain Integration for Children and Adolescents. In 2016, I completed a year long training with Dr. Ellen Bader & Dr. Peter Pearson experts in couples therapy with a focus on Attachment & Development & Nueroscience.   In this program I had the opportunity to work with people from all over the world who are providing this model to couples.  I have also attended training's with other leading trauma and neuroscience experts such as Dr.Bruce Perry, Dr. Dan Siegel, and Dr. Rick Hanson.   Locally,  I coordinate a study group in my community for clinicians implementing neuroscience principles, developmental theories and attachment theory in a clinical setting.  Currently, I am updating my skills with a year long training from Dr. Stan Tatkin, world expert on couples therapy, using a psychobiological approach.
